Ajmer: A 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped by two men in Rajasthan’s Ajmer district, after which the victim attempted suicide, an official said on Friday. According to the information, the incident took place in Mangliyawas police station area and the search for the accused is going on.
An official said the victim has been admitted to the hospital for treatment. In this regard, the victim’s family members have lodged a complaint at Mangaliyawas police station. Police said a case of gang rape has been registered under relevant sections of the IPC and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.
After the incident, the complainant alleged that the girl tried to commit suicide after being threatened by the accused. Ajmer Rural Circle Officer Manish Badgujar is conducting the investigation.
Mangliyawas police station officer Sunil Tada said, “As per the complaint, the victim had gone to the outskirts of the nearby forest area on December 27, where the accused physically harassed her. Both threatened her with harm if she told anyone.” After returning home, the girl told her family about the incident.
After getting information about this incident, the family reached the accused’s house to complain about the incident. However, the accused family members chased away the victim’s family by threatening them with dire consequences if they filed a police complaint. Later the victim allegedly attempted suicide.
Police said that after seeing the girl lying unconscious on the floor, the family members took her to the hospital late in the night. Since the victim was unable to speak, her statement could not be taken at that time.
