Rajasthan: 23-year-old man dies after wrong blood transfusion in hospital

Rajasthan: A man died after the wrong type of blood was allegedly transfused to him in Jaipur, Rajasthan at the government-run Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital. He was 23-year-old. The victim was identified as Sachin Sharma. He was a resident of the state's Bandikui town.

Rajasthan: A man died after the wrong type of blood was allegedly transfused to him in Jaipur, Rajasthan at the government-run Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital. He was 23-year-old. The victim was identified as Sachin Sharma. He was a resident of the state’s Bandikui town.

After a road accident in which he suffered severe injuries he was admitted to the Trauma Centre of the hospital .During treatment, a ward boy, posted at the Trauma Centre, allegedly transfused O-positive blood instead of the required AB-positive blood.

After the transfusion of the blood, both kidneys of the patient developed complications, and he later succumbed due to the alleged negligence. In the case the SMS Hospital Superintendent Achal Sharma said,”The matter came to the fore when Sachin was being attended to at the hospital.”

Details about this incident he further said that a special committee has been formed to probe the matter and action will be taken accordingly after receiving the report. No case was filed by the victim’s family or the hospital authorities at the time of publishing of this news report, according to the police.
