Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje has bagged the Jhalrapatan Assembly seat by thumping 53,193 votes ahead of the Congress candidate. Vasundhara Raje also defeated Congress candidate Ramlal Chouhan by 53,193 votes in Jhalrapatan.

Considered a stronghold of Vasundhara Raje, the former Rajasthan chief minister was leading ahead of Congress’s Ram Lal Chouhan with over 51,000 votes. On party’s lead in Rajasthan, BJP leader Vasundhara Raje Scindia says, “This victory is of the mantra of ‘Sabka saath, sabka vishwas and sabka prayaas’ given by PM Modi. It is the victory of the guarantee given by the PM.

Raje has been winning the Jhalrapatan seat in Rajasthan since 2003 and her victory in the 2023 assembly elections has paved the way for her relevance in state politics, which was in question and her loyalists hope that she will again become the Chief Minister of Rajasthan. Will sit on the chair.

Raje’s huge lead reflected the BJP’s apparent enthusiasm to wrest Rajasthan from the Congress after early trends on Sunday showed the party leading in the 199-member Rajasthan Assembly.

As per the counting trends, there was celebration at the BJP state headquarters as soon as the party crossed the majority mark. Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat took a dig at Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, saying that his “magic” has gone.

Counting of votes continues for Rajasthan Assembly elections, in which Congress is leading. The majority mark to form the government in the state is 100. This year in Rajasthan, 74.96 percent voting took place in the assembly elections.
