RCB vs LSG: Royal Challengers Bangalore beat Lucknow Super Giants by 18 runs in IPL 2023

New Delhi: The 43rd match of IPL 2023 between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore (LSG Vs RCB) has been full of ups and downs. The batsmen had to struggle a lot to score runs on the pitch of Atal Bihari Bajpayee Ikana Stadium. Lucknow finally had to settle for an 18-run defeat in this match. On the other hand, with this win, RCB has strengthened its position for the playoffs.

With captain KL Rahul injured while fielding, Lucknow sent in Ayush Badoni in the opener along with Kyle Meyers to chase the target. RCB gave Lucknow the first blow at the score of nil as Kyle Meyers returned to the pavilion without opening his account. Lucknow then suffered a second blow on 19 in the form of Krunal Pandya who caught Kohli on 14 in an attempt to play a big shot against Glenn Maxwell.

From here, everyone expected that the Lucknow team will bat a little more carefully. But that was not to be seen and the team got the next blow in the form of Ayush Badoni on 21 followed by Deepak Hooda on 27. The Lucknow team managed to reach the score of 34 runs at the loss of 4 wickets in the first 6 overs.

After losing the initial 4 wickets early, it looked very difficult for the Lucknow team to come back in this match. The team suffered a 5th blow in the form of Nicholas Pooran on 38 who returned to the pavilion after scoring 9 runs. After this, a partnership of 27 runs in 22 balls was seen between Marcus Stoinis and Krishnappa Gautam for the sixth wicket.

On the strength of this partnership, the Lucknow team made a little comeback in the match. But with the return of Marcus Stoinis to the pavilion on the score of 65, RCB completely turned the match in their favor. After this, Lucknow also lost the wicket of Krishnappa Gautam on 66 and then Ravi Bishnoi on 77.

The Lucknow team was reduced to scoring 108 runs in this match and had to face defeat by 18 runs. Karn Sharma and Josh Hazlewood took 2-2 in the bowling for RCB while Harshal Patel, Mohammad Siraj, Wanindu Hasaranga and Glenn Maxwell took 1-1 each.

On this slow pitch of Ikana Stadium, RCB won the toss and decided to bat first. After this, the team’s opening pair of captain Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli gave a slow but strong start. Du Plessis and Virat shared a partnership of 62 runs for the first wicket.

After this, Kohli returned to the pavilion after playing an innings of 31 runs in this match. From here, Du Plessis scored 44 important runs, handling the innings from one end. In this match, RCB scored 126 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. Naveen Ul Haq took 3 wickets while Amit Mishra and Ravi Bishnoi bagged 2 wickets each for Lucknow.
