Rishikesh: Passenger vehicle returning from Kedarnath immersed in Ganges, 3 killed, 3 missing

Rishikesh: On Rishikesh-Badrinath National Highway on Sunday morning, a Max coming from Sonprayag to Rishikesh went uncontrolled near Malakunthi and fell into the Ganges. The incident took place when a huge boulder rolled down the hill and the driver of the vehicle lost control. After which the vehicle fell into the ditch.

Rishikesh: On Rishikesh-Badrinath National Highway on Sunday morning, a Max coming from Sonprayag to Rishikesh went uncontrolled near Malakunthi and fell into the Ganges. The incident took place when a huge boulder rolled down the hill and the driver of the vehicle lost control. After which the vehicle fell into the ditch.

There were 11 persons including the driver in the vehicle. Five passengers were rescued from the ditch. Six passengers went missing. Out of which the deep diver involved in the SDRF team has recovered three bodies from the Ganga. Efforts are on to identify them.

All the people were returning from Kedarnath Yatra and are residents of different provinces. On the spot, a search operation is being conducted by the SDRF team and police station Munikireti.

At around 3 am on Sunday morning, Chowki Byasi, police station Munikireti received information that a Max Uttarakhand number which was coming from Sonprayag to Rishikesh, got drowned in the Ganga after falling into a deep ditch.

The accident took place on the main road between Malakunthi bridge to Hotel Anand Kashi. The police force reached the spot along with Inspector Munikireti Ritesh Shah, in-charge of the station. SDRF team was also called for help. Five passengers were rescued from the ditch.

Among these passengers, Bijender 46 year old son Jagdish Pandey resident of Badarpur Delhi, Akash 22 year old son Tej Singh, Pradeep Kumar 27 year old son Mahendra Singh resident of Shahpur Punjab, Roshan Kumar 25 year old son Subodh resident of Nalanda Bihar, Haryanvi 25 year old wife Ravi Singh resident of Hyderabad Everyone involved got hurt. The injured were sent to the government hospital.

Station in-charge Inspector Ritesh Shah told that the search for the missing people is going on. After questioning the rescued passengers, it has been learned about the missing people that all the people in the vehicle belong to different states.

The missing passengers include Abhijeet Tyagi resident of Bhojpur Bhajan Garh Delhi, Atul Singh resident of Shivpuri Bihar, Akshay Kumar resident of Bihar, Saurabh Kumar, Ravi Hyderabad, Max driver name address unknown.

Rescued passengers told that at eight o’clock on Saturday night all the people were sitting in a Max car from Sonprayag. Alsubah ahead of Malakunthi bridge towards Gular, due to sudden stone fall from the mountain in the rain, the car became uncontrollable and the car fell directly into the river.
