In a tragic incident in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, one person lost their life, and four others sustained injuries after a pickup van skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge in Shindhara village. The accident occurred late Thursday evening on the Shindhara road.
The injured individuals were promptly evacuated to the district hospital in Poonch for immediate medical attention. Dr. Nusrat Bhatti, Superintendent of District Hospital Poonch, stated, “Four injured people were brought to the hospital. One among them, who had serious chest trauma, was referred to Government Medical College Rajouri.”
Expressing swift response, Dr. Bhatti further mentioned, “District administration has provided Rs 5,000 to the injured and Rs 10,000 to the next of kin of the deceased.”
Vehicle Plunges into Gorge. Mohammad Ishaq, one of the injured survivors, recounted the tragic event, stating, “When the vehicle reached near Shindhara, it met with an accident. We both were sitting in the back seat. Five people were travelling when the accident took place.”
This unfortunate incident underscores the critical need for continued efforts to enhance road safety measures and emergency response capabilities in the region. Authorities are actively engaged in providing necessary support to the victims and their families during this difficult time.
