Dehradun: The forest fire in Uttarakhand’s Nainital escalates, reaching the High Court Colony and posing a significant threat to the area’s residents and sensitive military installations.

Severity and Spread

In the last 24 hours, 31 new incidents of forest fires have been reported across the state, destroying 33.34 hectares of forest land. The flames have intensified, prompting urgent measures to contain the blaze.

Military Involvement

With the fire edging closer to Indian Army installations near the Pines area, army personnel join efforts to combat the inferno. Helicopters may be deployed to aid in extinguishing the flames.

Authorities, including forest department personnel and district administration, collaborate to control the fire’s spread, despite challenges posed by the terrain and traffic disruptions.

Residents on Alert

Residents, including Anil Joshi, assistant registrar of the High Court, remain vigilant as the fire encroaches dangerously close to inhabited areas. Efforts are underway to protect residential colonies from the advancing flames.

Statewide Efforts and Arrests

The Uttarakhand government remains vigilant, with Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami directing officials to coordinate efforts across departments to prevent and mitigate forest fires.In Rudraprayag, three individuals were arrested for allegedly starting forest fires .

Forest department deploys personnel and resources, including 40 Manora Range personnel and two forest rangers, to combat the fire, while the district administration enforces a ban on boating in Naini Lake.
