Skill development case: Former CM Chandrababu Naidu granted regular bail by Andhra Pradesh HC

Andhra Pradesh: On Monday, The Andhra Pradesh High Court (HC) granted regular bail to former Chief Minister and TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu in the skill development scam case. He was on conditional medical bail for 4 weeks. Naidu is out on interim bail till November 28.

Skill development case: Former CM Chandrababu Naidu granted regular bail by Andhra Pradesh HC

Andhra Pradesh: On Monday, The Andhra Pradesh High Court (HC) granted regular bail to former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in the skill development scam case. The Telugu Desam Party chief was recently underwent cataract surgery at a hospital in Hyderabad. Naidu is out on interim bail till November 28.

He was on conditional medical bail for 4 weeks. He is recuperating in his Hyderabad residence. The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president was under judicial remand for allegedly misappropriating funds from the Andhra Pradesh Skill Development Corporation.

Naidu was required to report at the Rajamahendravaram Central prison before 5 pm on November 28. The High Court has also allowed Telugu Desam Party president Chandrababu Naidu to hold or participate in public rallies and meetings from November 29.

The HC has reserved its judgment on the bail petition on Thursday after hearing the arguments of both sides. During the hearing of the bail plea, arguments centered around the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 invoked by the CID, and the degree of Naidu’s role in the alleged scam, among others.

Chandrababu Naidu was arrested by the CID in connection with the Kaushal Vikas Nigam scam, after which he has been lodged in Rajahmundry Central Jail since September 10. Naidu was arrested on 9 September in connection with the alleged ₹3,300 crore Andhra Pradesh Skill Development Case (APSSDC) scam, which allegedly took place during his tenure as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.
