A suspected measles outbreak in Madhya Pradesh’s Maihar has led to the death of two children and infected 17 others, prompting authorities to take immediate measures. The affected villages have witnessed the closure of all schools for three days, and a medical team has been deployed to prevent further spread.

Suspected Measles Outbreak in Madhya Pradesh. The chief medical and health officer (CMHO), LK Tiwari, reported that two children, aged seven, succumbed to suspected measles on February 14 and 16, while 17 others were found to be infected in eight villages. Seven of the infected individuals have been hospitalized.

Following a report on the outbreak, the district collector ordered the temporary closure of government and private schools in the affected villages for three days. Additionally, a survey of habitations within a five-kilometer radius of the affected villages has been requested.

2 Children Die and 17 Infected Of Suspected Measles. To curb the spread, gatherings of children at any function in the affected areas have been banned by the collector. Samples from the infected individuals have been sent to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Bhopal for examination.

In response to the situation, a team from the World Health Organisation (WHO) is expected to visit the affected villages to assess and provide assistance. The local authorities are taking comprehensive measures to contain the outbreak and ensure the health and safety of the residents.
