Tamil Nadu: An early hours of Saturday, an official said that a horrific road accident has happened in Pudukkottai, Tamil Nadu. At least five people were killed after a truck carrying cement bags crashed into a tea shop and other vehicles parked nearby in Pudukkottai district of Tamil Nadu.

Tamil Nadu: An early hours of Saturday, an official said that a horrific road accident has happened in Pudukkottai, Tamil Nadu. At least five people were killed after a truck carrying cement bags crashed into a tea shop and other vehicles parked nearby in Pudukkottai district of Tamil Nadu.

According to the information, 19 others were injured in this incident. The accident took happened on the Trichy-Rameswaram National Highway. This incident happened when a speeding truck went out of control and rammed into a tea shop where pilgrims were standing on the roadside.

The bodies of those killed in the accident have been kept at the Government Pudukkottai Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem. Several Sabarimala temple pilgrims were having tea at the shop when a lorry rammed into it. A car and other two-wheeler vehicles which were parked near the tea shop were also damaged in the accident.

The official said that the injured people have been taken to Pudukkottai Government Medical College Hospital. Based on the preliminary investigation, police said that the driver of the cement truck lost control after he supposedly fell asleep while driving. The truck was travelling from Ariyalur to Sivagangai.
