Hyderabad: In a sudden turn of events, Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, leader of the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and the party’s candidate for the Dubbak assembly segment, was reportedly attacked while campaigning on Monday. According to the police, an unidentified individual in Siddipet district is alleged to have stabbed him. MP was attacked when he was walking towards a pastor’s home.
An unidentified man from the crowd walked up to him and stabbed him in the stomach. Prabhakar Reddy has been admitted to the hospital. The attacker was caught by BRS workers at the rally and handed over to the police. Siddipet Police Commissioner N Shweta said that the attacker has been taken into custody. The case is being investigated.
Member of Parliament representing the Medak Lok Sabha constituency suffered injuries in his stomach and has been shifted to Gajwel government hospital. His condition is said to be stable.
The incident unfolded in Doulthabad mandal when Prabhakar Reddy, who has been fielded by BRS from Dubbak for the November 30 assembly elections, was campaigning, the police official said. He became an MP after Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao gave up the seat in 2014 to contest in the assembly elections.
Television footage shows Prabhakar Reddy taking immediate action to tend to the knife wound on his stomach and attempting to control the bleeding while sitting inside a vehicle.
