Tensions Rise Between Samajwadi Party and Congress Amidst Alliance Uncertainty

The discord between the parties escalated when the Congress, in its list for Madhya Pradesh, failed to allocate any seats to its INDIA ally despite earlier assurances. A visibly upset Akhilesh Yadav accused the Congress of deception and expressed his doubts about the viability of the alliance at the state level.

On Sunday, Yadav posted a cryptic message on social media, emphasizing “Mission 2024” and the role of ‘PDA’ (Pichde, Dalits, and Alpasankhyaks/Minorities) in his political strategy. The acronym, signifying support from marginalized communities, has been a key aspect of Yadav’s electoral vision to challenge the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

The SP Chief’s frustrations were evident as he questioned the Congress’s intentions, asking why they initiated discussions for an alliance if they were not committed to it. Yadav demanded clarity from the Congress, urging them not to betray the Samajwadi Party.

Additionally, Yadav criticized the Congress’s sudden interest in a caste census, pointing out their previous lack of support for the initiative. He suggested that the Congress had realized the importance of backing from backward castes and tribes for electoral success, indicating a shift in their strategy.

As tensions escalate, the future of the SP-Congress alliance remains uncertain, leaving many to speculate about the impact on the upcoming elections and the overall political landscape in the region.
