Tragic Murder in Canada: In a devastating incident that has shocked communities both in Canada and India, a Punjab man has been charged with murder after allegedly stabbing his wife to death in Abbotsford, British Columbia. The victim, 41-year-old Balwinder Kaur, was found in her residence with life-threatening stab wounds, according to officials.
The tragic event unfolded on March 15 at the 3400-block of Wagner Drive in Abbotsford. First responders rushed to the scene and attempted life-saving measures, but sadly, Balwinder succumbed to her injuries shortly after being transported to the hospital.
Jagpreet Singh, the husband of the victim, was arrested at the scene in connection with the incident. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team in Canada released a statement confirming the details of the incident and Jagpreet’s arrest.
In a disturbing turn of events, after allegedly committing the crime, Jagpreet made a video call to his mother in Ludhiana, Punjab, where he reportedly confessed to the act. Balwinder’s sister shared heartbreaking details, stating that Jagpreet informed his mother, “I have put her to sleep forever,” after fatally stabbing his wife.
According to Balwinder’s sister, the couple often argued over financial matters, especially as Jagpreet had recently become unemployed after moving to Canada just a week prior to the incident. They had been married since 2000 and were parents to a daughter and a son.
Jagpreet’s family, however, denies any allegations of harassment or intentional harm. His brother expressed confusion and sorrow, mentioning that the couple had returned from shopping just hours before the tragedy. He stated that Jagpreet called their mother after the incident, asking for forgiveness and claiming that the injury was a mistake.
The circumstances surrounding the fatal stabbing remain unclear, leaving the family and authorities searching for answers. Jagpreet’s brother emphasized that there was no known reason for the tragic turn of events, especially as their daughter was not present at the time of the incident.
