UP: 2 Pakistani nationals among 3 planning terror activities arrested near Indo-Nepal border

Lucknow: On Thursday, according to the official said that the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) arrested near the Nepal border three men who were allegedly planning to commit terror activities in India. In a statement released by the ATS said that the trio included two Pakistani nationals and were carrying forged Indian identity proofs.

Lucknow: On Thursday, according to the official said that the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) arrested near the Nepal border three men who were allegedly planning to commit terror activities in India. In a statement released by the ATS said that the trio included two Pakistani nationals and were carrying forged Indian identity proofs.

The statement read,”Acting on an intelligence input that some terrorists with an aim to commit terror activities in India are going to enter via Indo-Nepal border, a team of Gorakhpur ATS unit was put on alert.The unit on Thursday arrested three accused while entering India via the Indo-Nepal border.”

The statement said the accused have been identified as Mohammad Altaf Bhat, a resident of Rawalpindi in Pakistan, Syed Gazanfar, a resident of Islamabad and Nasir Ali, a resident of Jammu and Kashmir. It added that the three were arrested at the Indo-Nepal border in Sonauli in Maharajganj district.

The statement further said the Bhat got in touch with Gazanfar in Kathmandu where they procured fake Indian documents, including Aadhaar cards. They then met Ali, who was tasked to ferry Bhat and Gazanfar to Kashmir via the Indo-Nepal border. It added,”Mohammad Altaf Bhat told ATS officials that he was trained at Hizbul Mujahideen camp in Muzaffarabad with the support of ISI with the intention of liberating Kashmir from India. Bhat was going to Jammu and Kashmir to carry out terror activities on the instructions of ISI.”

Officials said that the ATS recovered fake Indian documents, Pakistani documents and passports from their possession. After this, an FIR has been registered against the three under sections 420 (cheating), 120 B (criminal conspiracy), 121 A (waging war or attempting to wage war or inciting waging of war against the Government of India) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). He said further investigation is underway.
