UP: 9 children injured in religious procession mishap after DJ van hits live wire in Amethi district

Uttar Pradesh: At least nine children suffered burn injuries in Amethi district of Uttar Pradesh after they came in contact with an 11,000-Volt live wire during a religious procession on Monday.

Uttar Pradesh: At least nine children suffered burn injuries in Amethi district of Uttar Pradesh after they came in contact with an 11,000-Volt live wire during a religious procession on Monday.

The district police said when the children aged between 9 to 15 were returning home on a DJ van after a ‘Bhandara’ program at a temple to mark the consecration ceremony of Ayodhya, the incident took place in Sangrampur area.

The Amethi Police said, “Suddenly, they came in contact with an 11,000-Volt line. In total, nine children got burnt.”

Giving details about this incident, Superintendent of Police Elamaran G said that children were immediately rushed to the district hospital. The SP added,”Eight of them were stable and one child was referred to a higher centre in Lucknow.”

After the incident, Lallan Singh,Deputy Superintendent of Police said there was a ‘bhandara’ in a Shiva temple in the Durai Ka Purva village of the Sangrampur police station. The children were part of a procession that was taken out in the same place.

He said all the injured children were admitted to Gauriganj District Hospital for treatment and the condition of one of them, Nandan Singh (15), was critical and he was sent to the Trauma Center in Lucknow.
