New York: Former US President Donald Trump has received a major setback from the Manhattan federal court. Let us tell you that in the case of sexual abuse and defamation, Donald Court has imposed a fine of $ 5 million against Trump. In fact, Trump was facing allegations of sexual assault with a woman in the 1990s.
The jury found that he sexually assaulted magazine writer E.Jean Carroll in the 1990s and then defamed her as a liar. On Tuesday, a nine-member jury ordered Trump to pay $5 million in damages.
A Manhattan federal court jury, however, did not find that Trump raped her. The jury deliberated for three hours before rejecting Trump’s denial of assault on Carroll. In this case, Trump remained absent during the hearing which began on 25 April.
Carroll, 79, testified during the trial that Trump, 70, raped her in a dressing room at a Bergdorf Goodman department store in Manhattan in 1995 or 1996. Not only this, in October 2022, he damaged his reputation by writing a post on his internet platform.
President Trump, who was the President of the United States from 2017 to 2021, is leading in opinion polls for the Republican presidential nomination. This decision may dash their hopes.
