Uttar Pradesh Receives Award for Excellence in Inland Fisheries

Uttar Pradesh has been honored with an award for excellence in inland fisheries in the plain areas.

The achievement underscores the state’s commitment to advancing fisheries initiatives, contributing to increased fish production and the overall growth of the sector.

Uttar Pradesh has secured the best state award in the Inland Fisheries category, as announced by state Fisheries Minister Sanjay Nishad. The accolade will be presented during the upcoming Global Fisheries Conference 2023 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, coinciding with World Fisheries Day on November 21.

Prashant Sharma, Special Secretary to the Fisheries Department, announced that Uttar Pradesh has earned the prestigious award for the best state in the Inland Fisheries category. Fisheries Minister Sanjay Nishad highlighted the successful implementation of fishery-related schemes on the ground, as per the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Over the past six and a half years, the state has witnessed a substantial rise in fish production as a direct result of these efforts.

During a press conference at Lok Bhavan, Fisheries Minister Sanjay Nishad declared that, in alignment with the Chief Minister’s vision, proactive initiatives supporting fish farming have been implemented. These measures have led to a substantial increase in fish farming and production over the past six and a half years.

“The visionary approach of the Chief Minister has positioned Uttar Pradesh as the top state in inland fish farming across the country,” he added.

He said that while last year’s fish production was 8.09 lakh metric tonnes, this year the department has already achieved a production value of 9.15 lakh metric tonnes.
