Uttar Pradesh: On Thursday, A woman in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, who was accidentally shot in the head by a police officer inside a police station while she was getting her passport verified, died undergoing treatment.The incident happened last Friday. The woman, Ishrat Jahan, had entered the Kotwali police station with her son and stood there for a while.

Uttar Pradesh: On Thursday, A woman in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, who was accidentally shot in the head by a police officer inside a police station while she was getting her passport verified, died undergoing treatment.The incident happened last Friday. The woman, Ishrat Jahan, had entered the Kotwali police station with her son and stood there for a while.

After some time, a police officer came and gave a pistol to Sub-Inspector (SI) Manoj Sharma. When the SI was cleaning the pistol, the bullet accidentally hit the woman, due to which she fell on the ground. The seriously injured woman was taken to Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and is undergoing treatment there. He died on Thursday. Security has been increased in the hospital and Kotwali police station.

A reward of Rs 20,000 announced on the head of the accused constable. Meanwhile, the police is searching for absconding SI Manoj Sharma. A non-bailable warrant with a reward of Rs 1,000 has been issued against absconding Sharma. Rs 20,000 on his head. Also, a case has been registered against police station in-charge Sudeep and he has been sent to jail.

SP Kalanidhi Naithani reached the hospital and expressed deep condolences. He assured justice to the victim’s family. He said that strict action would be taken against the accused police officers and those found guilty would be given strict punishment. He said that a dedicated police team has been formed to arrest the accused.

Former Samajwadi Party MLA Zameer Ullah Khan, who reached the medical college, expressed grief over this unfortunate incident. He questioned whether the perpetrator was a police officer or a criminal, stressing that the incident should not tarnish the image of the entire police force. He urged the government to investigate whether the accused was a criminal in uniform. He expressed concern over the lack of prompt action and called for justice.
