Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has given the nod for a 4% hike in dearness allowance (DA) for both state employees and pensioners. The State Finance Department has promptly issued orders, bringing the DA percentage for employees up from 42% to 46% in the state.
The state government had previously announced an increase in DA for employees in the administrative departments of public undertakings and corporations. This move, disclosed in an official release on December 31, 2023, was an early indicator of the government’s commitment to enhancing employee benefits.
According to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Secretary Vinay Shankar Pandey’s directive will positively impact employees across various pay scales. Employees in the fifth and sixth pay scales, as well as those in the seventh revised pay scale, are set to benefit.
Seventh Revised Pay Scale: The DA for employees in this scale has been raised from 38% to 42%.
Fifth and Sixth Pay Scales: Employees in these scales will see increases from 212% to 221% and from 396% to 412%, respectively.
Sixth Pay Scale as of July 1, 2022: Employees on this scale, receiving DA, will observe an increase from 203% to 212%.
In addition to the DA increment, Chief Minister Dhami has announced the impending implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Uttarakhand. The UCC, set to be presented in the Assembly shortly, aims to establish and enforce personal laws uniformly for all citizens, irrespective of religion, gender, or sexual orientation.
