Vaibhav Gehlot steps down as president of Rajasthan Cricket Association

Rajasthan: On Monday, Vaibhav Gehlot has resigned from his role as the president of the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA). This surprising turn of events unfolds ahead of the eagerly anticipated IPL-2024, casting a shadow of uncertainty over the future of cricket administration in the state.

Gehlot was elected as the president of RCA in 2019 and was re-elected in December 2022. In a tweet he shared this information and said, “In the year 2019, I started working after being elected as the President of Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA). My objective was to promote cricket in Rajasthan and connect more and more youth with this game.”

In a statement, Gehlot said,”Everyone knows the condition of the Rajasthan Cricket Association during BJP’s tenure before the appointment of CP Joshi as president (RCA). The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) had slapped a ban on the association which prohibited the Rajasthan cricket team from participating in any tournament. The period also didn’t witness the conduct of a single game in Rajasthan.”

He further added, “I got the opportunity to work as the president of the RCA after CP Joshi’s tenure and his guidance helped immensely. I aimed to promote the sport in the state and to encourage the youth to take it up.For me, the future of cricket and cricket players of the state is important. In future, I will always be available for the interests of Rajasthan cricket, cricketers and cricket lovers.”

He mentioned,”The state was deprived of international and IPL games and I negotiated with BCCI to organize both in Rajasthan. To provide a platform to the youth in the state to showcase their talent, I organized the Rajasthan Premier League (RPL) in Jaipur and Jodhpur.”
