Viacom18 wins BCCI media rights for both television and digital broadcast for next 5 years

New Delhi: Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah on Thursday announced that Viacom 18 has won the BCCI media rights across television and digital media for the next five years.

New Delhi: Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah on Thursday announced that Viacom 18 has won the BCCI media rights across television and digital media for the next five years.

He took to Twitter to make the announcement. Now, India’s domestic international matches will be shown on Viacom18 owned channels/platforms.

“Congratulations to @viacom18 for winning @BCCI media rights for both linear & digital for the next 5 years. After @IPL & @wplt20 as India cricket continues to grow in both fronts, we look forward to partnering with @BCCI media rights Let’s expand as well.”Together we will continue to capture the attention of cricket fans,” he tweeted.

He also thanked the previous rights holders, Disney Star and Disney+ Hotstar, for their support over the years and helping Indian cricket reach its fans across the globe.

“Many thanks also to @starindia @DisneyPlusHS for your support over the years. You played a vital role in taking India Cricket to its fans across the world,” he said in a tweet.

Notably, Team India is currently playing the Asia Cup, which started on August 30. The Men in Blue will begin their campaign against Pakistan on Saturday.
