West Bengal: 18-year-old boy killed by close friends over mobile game password

West Bengal: A senior police officer said that an argument over refused to sharing the password of an online mobile game allegedly led to the murder of a 18-year-old boy by a group of teenagers in Murshidabad district of West Bengal.

The boy identified as Papai Das. The police said that he had been missing since January 8. The body of 18-year-old boy was discovered near Nishindra Ghat of the feeder canal in Farakka on Monday.

Giving details about this incident, police said that he was a class 10 student, reportedly killed by his four “close” friends after a disagreement over sharing the password for a mobile online game. The police added that the accused individuals have been arrested.

A senior police officer said,”These five individuals used to play online games at one of the quarters of the Farakka Barrage. The victim went out on the evening of January 8 and never returned. On January 9, the family lodged a police complaint.”

After the complaint lodged by family, police said,”Based on preliminary investigations, we discovered that the victim had refused to share his password to play the online mobile game with his friends, which resulted in a fight and ultimately led to his murder.”

Police said that after committing the murder, four “friends” attempted to burn the victim using petrol from their bikes. He added, “They then dumped the partially burnt body in the Nishindra Ghat of Farakka feeder and fled to their home. We have traced their involvement through the tower location of their mobile phones.”

The mother of victim identified him from the tattoos on his body. The police officer also said that the victim was so addicted to this online game that he even skipped his pre-board exam this year.
