West Bengal: On Thursday, The Enforcement Directorate has raided the premises of Prasanna Roy, the alleged middleman in the SSC recruitment scam case. This raid took place in West Bengal’s Balaka Abasan. According to information, Roy’s Newtown home and office were searched during the raid.
Roy has also been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in 2022. However, he was later granted bail by the Supreme Court. According to the allegations, Prasanna Roy was close to Shanti Prasad Singh, head of the SSC Recruitment Advisory Committee.
The central investigative agency reportedly got his name while investigating two alleged recruitment corruption cases. Let it be known that in December last year, the Enforcement Directorate raided 9 locations in Kolkata in connection with the teacher recruitment scam.
The residences and offices of several persons, including chartered accountants, traders and others linked to the scam, were searched. The recruitment scam landed former education minister Partha Chatterjee and several Trinamool functionaries and officials of the state education department behind bars.
Both the ED and the CBI are probing the alleged irregularities following the order of the Kolkata High Court. On July 22, the ED, probing the money trail in the teacher recruitment scam, raided 14 places, including the residence of Parth Chatterjee. During this time ED got information about Parth’s close associate Arpita Mukherjee.
