The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) faced a setback as the nomination of Debasish Dhar, their candidate from Birbhum, was cancelled due to failure to produce the required ‘No Due Certificate’. Dhar, a former IPS officer who resigned last month, saw his candidacy nullified, impacting the electoral dynamics in the region.

BJP Candidate Debasish Dhar’s Nomination Cancelled in Birbhum. Meanwhile, in the ongoing second phase of Lok Sabha elections in West Bengal, voter turnout crossed 31% by 11 am across three constituencies. Darjeeling led with the highest turnout of 32.75%, followed by Raiganj with 32.51% and Balurghat with 28.11%. Despite smooth polling operations, the Election Commission received 290 complaints primarily related to EVM malfunctioning.

With 47 candidates, including state BJP president Sukanta Majumdar, vying for victory, the electoral landscape in West Bengal remains dynamic, reflecting the diversity of political choices among the electorate.
