The induction ceremony took place in the presence of Union ministers Rajeev Chandrasekhar and L Murugan, alongside the state BJP president K Annamalai. Annamalai welcomed the new members, emphasizing their wealth of experience and their commitment to strengthening the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as he seeks a straight third term in power.

Highlighting the political landscape in Tamil Nadu, Annamalai suggested that the state is leaning towards the BJP, making a veiled criticism of the ruling DMK and its main rival AIADMK.

“Tamil Nadu is going the Bharatiya Janata Party way,” stated Annamalai, asserting the party’s growing influence in the traditionally Dravidian state. His firm stance on the BJP’s ideological stand and outspoken criticism of established parties have earned him both admirers and detractors.

Rajeev Chandrasekhar remarked on the significant scale of the joining, attributing it to Prime Minister Modi’s popularity in Tamil Nadu, where the BJP has not traditionally held a substantial presence. Chandrasekhar, highlighting Modi’s ambitious projection of winning 370 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha and the NDA crossing 400, expressed confidence that many of these new seats will come from Tamil Nadu.

He concluded by stating, “It is clear that every citizen of India wants the transformation of the last 10 years to continue,” underlining the public’s support for the BJP’s agenda and leadership.
