3 Children among 10 dead in goods vehicle-truck collision in Chhattisgarh’s Bemetara; 23 Injured

In a tragic incident, at least ten people lost their lives, and 23 sustained injuries when a goods vehicle collided with a truck in the Bemetera district on Monday. The condition of 4 of the injured is critical, who have been referred to Raipur AIIMS. The dead include 5 women and 3 children. According to the information received, everyone was returning to the village after attending a family function.

Bemetra/Chhattisgarh: In a tragic incident, at least ten people lost their lives, and 23 sustained injuries when a goods vehicle collided with a truck in the Bemetera district on Monday. The condition of 4 of the injured is critical, who have been referred to Raipur AIIMS. The dead include 5 women and 3 children. According to the information received, everyone was returning to the village after attending a family function.

According to a senior police official, the tragic incident unfolded late Sunday night near Kathia village as the victims were returning from a family function. The goods vehicle collided with the parked mini truck on the roadside. The collision was so strong that 8 people died on the spot. At present, Collector, SP and SDM administration are present at the incident site.

The police said that the victims, who hailed from Patharra village, were on their way back after attending a family event in Tiraiyya village. Those killed were recognised as Bhuri Nishad (50), Neera Sahu (55), Geeta Sahu (60), Agniya Sahu (60), Khushbu Sahu (39), Madhu Sahu (5), Rikesh Nishad (6) and Twinkle Nishad (6), he said.

The injured people were initially admitted to two hospitals. Subsequently, four critically injured persons were transferred to All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Raipur.
