AAP National Executive and Council Meetings Amidst Kejriwal’s Return and ED Summons

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is set to convene its National Executive and National Council meetings today through virtual means, a strategic move in light of the recent Enforcement Directorate (ED) summons to Delhi Chief Minister and AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal. The meetings follow Kejriwal’s return to Delhi after a 10-day Vipassana meditation in Hoshiarpur, Punjab.

AAP National Executive and Council Meetings Today. Kejriwal, who recently completed his Vipassana meditation on December 28, expressed renewed energy and commitment to public service. He shared his experience on X, stating, “Returned today after 10 days of Vipassana meditation. This sadhana gives immense peace. From today onwards, we will again start serving the public with new energy.”

Official sources indicate that Kejriwal is expected to appear before the Enforcement Directorate on January 3 in connection with the excise policy case. The ED had issued a third summons on December 22, asking the Chief Minister to depose on January 3. Kejriwal had previously skipped the second summons on December 21.

This ongoing legal matter began with the ED summoning Kejriwal on November 2, a call he initially ignored, citing the notice as “vague, motivated, and unsustainable in law.” The Chief Minister alleged political motivations and claimed that the summons appeared driven by extraneous considerations.

It’s noteworthy that Kejriwal was also summoned by the CBI in April of this year in connection with the case. Although he wasn’t named as an accused in the initial FIR filed in August of the previous year, the scrutiny continues. In February 2023, Deputy CM Manish Sisodia was arrested by the CBI in relation to alleged irregularities in the framing and implementation of Delhi’s now-scrapped excise policy. The policy faced opposition allegations of foul play, leading to its eventual withdrawal.
