Assam Flood: 17 Animals drown in water in Kaziranga National Park, 72 Rescued

Kaziranga National Park: India's north-eastern state Assam is currently in the grip of severe floods. This natural disaster has created trouble for humans as well as wild animals. According to the latest reports, 17 wild animals have drowned in water due to floods in Kaziranga National Park located in the state. While 72 animals have been rescued safely.

Kaziranga National Park: India’s north-eastern state Assam is currently in the grip of severe floods. This natural disaster has created trouble for humans as well as wild animals. According to the latest reports, 17 wild animals have drowned in water due to floods in Kaziranga National Park located in the state. While 72 animals have been rescued safely.

According to reports, 173 forest camps of Kaziranga National Park in Assam are still battling floods. An official said 17 wild animals, including a rhinoceros, calf and hog deer, had drowned in the flood waters. Of the 72 animals rescued by forest officials, 32 are undergoing treatment and 25 others have been released. According to Sonali Ghosh, area director of the park, the park officials and the forest department have rescued 55 hog deer, two otters (babies), two sambar, two scops owls, one rhinoceros calf, one Indian rabbit, one wild cat.

Eight people died due to drowning in flood waters in Assam on Wednesday. With this, the death toll due to floods in the state has reached 46. More than 3.86 lakh people are taking shelter in 515 relief camps and distribution centers set up by the administration in 24 flood-affected districts of the state. Rescue teams of NDRF, SDRF, fire brigade, emergency services, administration, Indian Army and paramilitary forces are engaged in rescue operations in various areas.
