New Delhi: On Monday, an official said that a deputy superintendent of police (DSP) in Assam was arrested for allegedly repeatedly raping a minor domestic help on Sunday. According to the information, He has been identified as Kiran Nath.
Official added that he was posted at the Lachit Borphukan Police Academy in Golaghat district. 15-year-old victim alleged that she was repeatedly raped by the senior police official.
On Saturday, His family members lodged a complaint at Dergaon police station, after which a case was registered against him on Sunday. The victim said that Nath had forcibly confined her at his residence and used to torture her with the help of his family members.
On the basis of evidence that has come up during the investigation, assam Director General of Police (DGP) Gyanendra Pratap Singh said that Nath has been arrested. In a post on X, Mr Singh said,”Zero tolerance towards sexual misconduct amongst police personnel remains corner stone of the policy of Assam Police.”
Nath has been arrested under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 376 of Section 3 (IPC) and Section 6 of Section 3 (IPC) of Section 3 (IPC) and Section 6) from 2012. Police said they recorded the statement of sufferers and other witnesses and are further investigating this matter.
