Assembly Elections 2023: BJP to contest all 60 Meghalaya seats, 20 seats in Nagaland

The Bharatiya Janata Party has announced candidates for the assembly elections to be held in Nagaland and Meghalaya. BJP leader Nalin Kohli has said that the BJP will contest 20 seats in Nagaland, while the remaining 40 seats have been given to ally NDPP. Bharatiya Janata Party has also announced candidates for all 60 seats for the Meghalaya Assembly elections.

Assembly Elections 2023: BJP to contest all 60 Meghalaya seats, 20 seats in Nagaland

New Delhi: Preparations have intensified for the elections in Nagaland and Meghalaya. The Bharatiya Janata Party has announced candidates for the assembly elections to be held in Nagaland and Meghalaya. BJP leader Nalin Kohli has said that the BJP will contest 20 seats in Nagaland, while the remaining 40 seats have been given to ally NDPP.

Nagaland BJP state president Temjen Imna has been nominated by the party from Alongtaki assembly constituency. Other names have also been announced. In Nagaland, the BJP is contesting all 60 seats in alliance with its ally, the NDPP. BJP will field its candidates in 20 out of 60 seats and its ally NDPP in 40 seats. In such a situation, on Thursday, BJP has announced all its 20 candidates.

Apart from this, the Bharatiya Janata Party has also announced candidates for all 60 seats for the Meghalaya Assembly elections. Nalin Kohli has said that our tagline for the Meghalaya elections is ‘M Power Meghalaya’ i.e. ‘Modi Powered Meghalaya’, he said, soon a double engine government will be formed here too.


The Election Commission had announced the assembly election schedule in Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland on January 18 last. Tripura will vote on February 16, while Meghalaya and Nagaland will vote on February 27. The assembly election results of all the three states will be announced simultaneously on March 2. One similarity in the Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland assembly elections is that the majority mark in all three states is 31, as the number of assembly seats in all three states is 60.

Candidates will be able to file nominations for the assembly elections from January 21 to January 30 in Tripura, from January 31 to February 7 in Meghalaya and Nagaland. The last date for withdrawal of nominations is February 2 in Tripura, and February 10 in Meghalaya-Nagaland.In such a situation, the BJP has released the final list of its 20 candidates for the state with 60 assembly seats. BJP leaders have announced the names of all the candidates by holding a press conference at the party office in Delhi on Thursday.
