Bengaluru lawyer finds Cockroach in meal at prestigious star hotel, alleges assault by staff; FIR filed

Bengaluru: In Bengaluru, a city often celebrated for its culinary diversity, an incident at a prestigious star hotel has served as a sobering reminder of the importance of food safety and customer rights. A woman from Bengaluru shares her bizarre experience after she found a cockroach in a meal that was served to her at hotel on Thursday. The woman, who is a lawyer, also accused the hotel staff of abusing, threatening and harassing her.

Sitting down to a hotel meal, a career lawyer makes a stomach-turning discovery in her cheese gravy: a cockroach. The lawyer, whose commitment to justice extends beyond the courtroom, did not hesitate to respond. She immediately reached out to the police and food inspectors in hopes of shedding light on this dangerous food safety violation.

Alleges assault by staff
But the incident did not end here. The lawyer, in order to document the conditions in the kitchen, started recording a video with her mobile phone. She alleges that the hotel staff reacted violently to her actions. According to her, they subjected her to physical and verbal abuse, dragging, pushing, and even threatening her. This alleged abuse has added a disturbing twist to an already unsettling incident.

FIR registered
Following her ordeal, the lawyer did not back down. Standing firm on her rights as a consumer, she lodged a complaint at the Vidhana Soudha police station, which led to a case being registered against two members of the hotel staff. Police are now investigating the incident, the findings of which could potentially have significant implications for the hotel and its staff.

“A lawyer lodged a complaint with the Vidhana Soudha police station yesterday after having lunch at a private hotel. The incident unfolded at around 3 pm, when the lawyer discovers a cockroach in her meal (paneer gravy). She promptly contacted the police and the food inspector. She then began recording a video with her mobile phone in the kitchen, capturing the meal preparation when the hotel staff allegedly dragged, pushed, and threatened her,” a senior police official said.
