Bihar: 20-year-old man strangled to death over Rs 500, his eyes gouged out with knife

Bihar: A labourer in Bihar’s Ara was allegedly killed by his friends over a dispute for Rs 500. He was 20-year-old. The assailants stabbed both his eyes with a knife after the murder and dumped his body in a mustard field.

The victim was identified as Mohan Singh. Singh, a resident of Bara Basantpur village, was brutally attacked with a knife, allegedly by his friends, on the pretext of celebrations. On Thursday morning, villagers near the Surya Mandir (Sun Temple) close to the Saveri Bridge informed Singh’s family that a body was found in a mustard field near Telhan.

Reportedly, the accused lured Singh out of his house, inflicted fatal wounds on him and left his body in a field. Police said that the body has been sent to Ara Sadar Hospital for post-mortem.

According to Mohan Singh’s elder brother Radha Singh, the son of a local lawyer named Mahato visited their house on Wednesday night around 9 pm and took Mohan with him. There were already a few other people present. Radha Singh, revealed that Singh had been demanding his unpaid wages of Rs 500 from a local acquaintance, Ajay Mahato.

Mohan Singh’s elder brother Radha Singh alleged that Singh’s friends, at the behest of Mahato, invited him to a party and subsequently murdered him. He said that he grew suspicious after his brother did not return home until late at night. A probe is underway.

Giving details about this incident, Inspector Vinod Kumar Suman said that they received information about a body in the Telhan field. After reaching the spot, they brought the body to Ara Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. He confirmed that the victim’s eyes had been intentionally damaged, and based on Radha Singh’s complaint about the Rs 500 dispute. He added that further investigation and necessary action would be taken.
