Last weak, in this case, the agency had arrested an alleged close aide of RJD chief Lalu Yadav, Subhash Yadav. The money laundering case stems from 20 FIRs lodged by the Bihar Police against a company called Broadson Commodities Private Limited (BCPL).

Its directors, alleging that they were involved in illegal mining and sale of sand without using e-invoices. The ED had last year arrested Bihar MLC and JDU leader Radha Charan Sah, his son Kanhaiya Prasad and Broadson Commodities directors Mithilesh Kumar Singh, Baban Singh and Surendra Kumar Jindal.

All of them are currently in jail under judicial custody. The charge sheet was filed against him before the special PMLA court in Patna in November, 2023. The alleged sand trade is controlled by a syndicate that had invested money in the said company.

According to the ED, the syndicate earns profits by selling illegal sand which is nothing but the proceeds of crime. Sources said Subhash Yadav is described as a “key syndicate” member in BCPL. ED has claimed that crime proceeds of Rs 161 crore were earned in this case.
