California: 8 Dead after two smuggling boat capsizes near the shore of Black’s Beach in San Diego County

Los Angeles: Eight people have died after a boat capsized off the coast of Black Beach in California’s San Diego County. Sources gave this information citing officials. The incident happened around 11:30 am on Sunday.

A person aboard a fishing boat on the spot called 911 and informed the police about the matter. On receiving the information, the team of San Diego Fire-Rescue Department reached the spot. At first rescuers were finding it difficult to reach the beach due to the high tide. After that, to reach there, one had to pass through knee-deep water.

Lifeguards initially retrieved only seven bodies. According to media reports, the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department said, with the assistance of US Customs, Border Protection’s Air and Sea Operations, lifeguards managed to find another body. The bodies have been transferred to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.

According to the department, multiple agencies including Fire-Rescue Department, San Diego Police Department, US Customs, Border Protection and US Coast Guard rushed to the spot for rescue operations.
