Canada: Indian-Canadian builder shot dead at construction site in Edmonton

Canada: Buta Singh Gill, an Indian-Canadian construction company owner, was shot dead after he was shot multiple times at a construction site in Edmonton. He was a prominent builder and head of the Guru Nanak Sikh Temple in Canada’s Edmonton.

According to the information, one more person also died in the daytime shooting which happened in the Canadian city’s Cavanagh area. After the shooting, about 50 people, most of them from the South Asian home-builder community, gathered at the scene.

According to reports, the victim owned Gill Built Homes Ltd., a luxury home building company based in Edmonton.In a statement, the Edmonton Police Service said the incident took place on Monday and “there were no immediate concerns for public safety”. Which also injured one man who is currently hospitalized.

Shortly after the shooting, in a post on X, it said,“Police are asking citizens to avoid the area of ​​Cavanagh Boulevard SW and 30th Avenue SW while police investigate a shooting that occurred in a residential area around noon.”

It added,“There are no immediate concerns for public safety at this time and responding officers have secured the scene. EPS homicide investigators will be leading this investigation. No further details are available.”
