Chhattisgarh: Naxal with Rs 5 Lakh Reward Eliminated in Dantewada Encounter

Chhattisgarh: In a significant anti-Naxal operation, security forces successfully neutralized a high-profile Naxal operative, Ratan Kashyap, alias Salam, in an encounter in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada district on Tuesday. The slain Naxal carried a hefty reward of Rs 5 lakh on his head and held the crucial position of Todma Militia Platoon Deputy Commander, along with being a key member of the outlawed Maoist organization’s Aamdai Area Committee.

Encounter Details in Mangnar Forest

The operation unfolded in the dense forests near Mangnar village, falling under the jurisdiction of the Barsur police station. Acting on precise intelligence regarding the presence of armed Naxals linked to the Aamdai Area Committee, the joint forces comprised personnel from the District Reserve Guard (DRG), Bastar Fighters (BF), and the Central Reserve Police Force’s (CRPF) 195th battalion.

Criminal Record: Involvement in IED Blast and Policemen’s Killings

Ratan Kashyap, aged 31, gained notoriety for his involvement in multiple violent incidents. In 2020, he played a pivotal role in an IED blast that claimed the lives of two policemen. Furthermore, Kashyap was implicated in the murder of a police officer in the Mardum area of Bastar district. His criminal record reflects association with a total of nine Naxal violence incidents in Dantewada and Bastar districts.

Strategic Blow to Naxal Network

The elimination of Ratan Kashyap is being hailed as a significant blow to the Naxal network operating in the region. As the Todma Militia Platoon Deputy Commander and a member of the Aamdai Area Committee, his removal marks a dent in the leadership structure of the outlawed Maoist organization.

Continued Vigilance in Anti-Naxal Operations

While this successful encounter showcases the effectiveness of intelligence-driven anti-Naxal operations, security forces remain vigilant. The ongoing efforts to dismantle Naxal networks and ensure the safety of the region will persist as authorities continue their relentless pursuit of maintaining law and order in Chhattisgarh.
