In a heartbreaking incident in Chhattisgarh, a Class 6 student from a private school took her own life, accusing a teacher of harassment in a suicide note found in her room. The accused teacher has been arrested, and investigations are underway, according to City Superintendent of Police (Ambikapur) Smruthik Rajnala.

The victim, found hanging from the ceiling in her house in Darripara area, left behind a note detailing the alleged harassment by the teacher. A forensic team collected evidence, and post-mortem was conducted, while statements from the girl’s parents, fellow students, and school staff were recorded.
The suicide note, dated February 6 and written in English, revealed the distressing circumstances leading to the tragic decision. The girl claimed that the teacher had confiscated ID cards and threatened to escalate the matter to the headmistress and her parents. Feeling scared, she mentioned in the note that she decided to take her own life, holding the teacher accountable for her extreme step. She also pleaded for her friends to be spared from punishment.
The investigation has resulted in the teacher being booked under IPC section 305 (abetment of suicide of a child), with ongoing inquiries to unravel the full extent of the situation.
The deceased girl’s father, a government officer, shared that his daughter did not disclose anything during their video call at 6:30 pm on the tragic day. Expressing concern over alleged mistreatment by teachers at the school, he urged for the protection of innocent students and recounted a previous incident of harassment his daughter faced in the nursery class.
This distressing incident highlights the need for thorough investigations and measures to address the safety and well-being of students within educational institutions.
