In a recent review meeting of the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC), Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized the necessity of expanding the Lucknow Metro to meet the growing demands of the state capital. Here are the key points from the meeting:

Rapid Development Plans:
Yogi Adityanath directed officials to swiftly prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the new metro route from Charbagh to Vasant Kunj via Chowk. He stressed the importance of primary soil testing and other suitability tests for both underground and elevated metro services.
Financial Implications:
The decision to expand the Lucknow Metro comes at a crucial time, as the UPMRC was facing financial challenges. The corporation operated at a loss of ₹307 crore per year, as per the March 31, 2022 balance sheet.

The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of adhering to safety standards during the construction of metro projects. He encouraged the promotion of commercial activities within the Metro Rail complex and urged concrete arrangements for passenger service and security.

Yogi Adityanath assured adequate funds for public interest projects and urged officials to release funds on time. He emphasized the need to complete metro routes in Kanpur and Agra within the stipulated time frame through effective communication and coordination.
