In a distressing incident in southeast Delhi’s Jaitpur area, a 39-year-old man was arrested for the alleged kidnapping of an 11-month-old child. The accused, identified as Naveen Mishra, was taken into custody after his wife returned the child to the police.

The mother of the kidnapped toddler, who runs a beauty parlour in Jaitpur and has two children, reported the incident to the police. According to her complaint, at around 8 pm on Wednesday, her son started crying, prompting her eight-year-old daughter to take him outside the parlour for some fresh air. Shortly afterward, the daughter informed her that a man had taken the toddler away on a motorcycle.

Following the complaint, an FIR was registered, and the police initiated an investigation. CCTV footage revealed the suspect carrying the kidnapped child on a motorcycle, and further examination led to the identification of the vehicle’s registration number in the name of a woman.

Intensive tracing efforts by the police were underway when, on Thursday around 10:40 am, the wife of the accused, Naveen Mishra, voluntarily arrived at the police station to hand over the child. Subsequently, police questioned her and proceeded to arrest Mishra from their residence.

During interrogation, Mishra confessed to kidnapping the child, explaining that he did not have any children of his own. Mishra, employed in the accounts department of a store in Noida, had no prior criminal record. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (southeast), Rajesh Deo, confirmed that further investigation into the case is ongoing.
