The Congress party has announced a list of 40 star campaigners for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Uttarakhand. These leaders, led by party president Mallikarjun Kharge, are set to campaign extensively for party candidates during the single-phase elections. The list, submitted by Congress general secretary KC Venugopal to the Election Commission of India, includes prominent figures such as Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi.

Diverse Lineup of Campaigners

The star campaigners’ list also features state party chief Karan Mahara, former Chief Minister Harish Rawat, and Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. Additionally, senior Uttarakhand leaders like Harish Singh Dhami and Harak Singh Rawat are named as crucial campaigners for the Congress party in the state.

Notable Inclusions

Among other significant names on the list are Salman Khurshid, Kumari Selja, Alka Lamba, Gurdeep Singh Sappal, Vikram Singh Negi, Pritam Singh, Bhuwan Chandra Kapri, Dr Jeet Ram, and Dinesh Aggarwal.

Congress Unveils Manifesto Titled ‘Nyay Patra’ for 2024 Lok Sabha Elections

Earlier today, the Congress party presented its election manifesto for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Titled ‘Nyay Patra,’ the manifesto focuses on ‘Paanch Nyay,’ consisting of ‘Yuva Nyay,’ ‘Naari Nyay,’ ‘Kisaan Nyay,’ ‘Shramik Nyay,’ and ‘Hissedari Nyay.’

Key Points of the Manifesto

The manifesto promises a nationwide Socio-Economic and Caste Census, aiming to enumerate castes and sub-castes alongside their socio-economic conditions. Additionally, the party pledges to pass a constitutional amendment to raise the 50 per cent cap on reservations for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes.

The Congress manifesto was meticulously compiled after conducting nationwide consultations and receiving thousands of suggestions via email and the party’s ‘Awaaz Bharat Ki’ website.

Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Details

The upcoming Lok Sabha elections, set to be conducted in seven phases, will commence on April 19. The counting of votes is scheduled for June 4, coinciding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s bid for a third consecutive term in office.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar announced that over 97 crore voters, comprising 49.7 crore males and 47.1 crore females, are eligible to cast their votes across 10.5 lakh polling booths. The polling dates are as follows: April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25, and June 1.
