Delhi BJP Unveils Poster Labeling Arvind Kejriwal as “Poster Boy of Corruption”

New Delhi : In a sharp political jab, the Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched a poster campaign portraying Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal as the “poster boy of corruption.” This move comes in the wake of heightened tensions following the dismissal of Kejriwal’s petition challenging his arrest in a money laundering case.

From Anti-Corruption Crusader to “Kejri Corruption Kranti”

The BJP’s poster accuses Kejriwal of betraying the principles of the Indian Against Corruption movement, a sentiment echoed by BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla, who highlighted the transformation of the movement into what he termed as “Kejri Corruption Kranti.” The poster raises questions about Kejriwal’s moral authority to govern while under arrest, adding fuel to the ongoing political firestorm.

Legal Battles Continue

Meanwhile, Kejriwal’s legal battle reached the Supreme Court as he challenges a high court order upholding his arrest in the alleged excise scam. The petition filed by his counsel seeks urgent listing before a bench headed by Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud, especially considering the impending court holiday.

Allegations of Corruption and Money Laundering

At the heart of the controversy lies allegations of corruption and money laundering related to the formulation and implementation of Delhi’s now-defunct excise policy for 2021-22. Kejriwal’s arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 21, following the high court’s refusal to grant him protection, has escalated tensions within the political landscape.

The Broader Political Context

The poster campaign and legal battles underscore the deepening political rift between the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi. As accusations fly and legal proceedings unfold, the fate of governance in the capital hangs in the balance, with both sides fiercely contesting the narrative amidst ongoing legal and political maneuvers.
