Delhi: Customs officials recovered 4 gold bars worth Rs 2 crore in the toilet of an international flight at IGI airport

Gold worth about 2 crores has been recovered from the toilet of the flight at Terminal-2 of Delhi Airport. Custom officials have seized the gold. Gold smuggling has not been confirmed so far.

New Delhi: Gold worth about 2 crores has been recovered from the toilet of the plane at Terminal-2 of Delhi Airport. Airport custom officials confirmed this. A custom official told that 4 gold biscuits have been found in the toilet of the international flight, whose value is estimated to be around 2 crores. The recovered gold has been kept sealed.

Officials said that the aircraft runs on the international route. The flight had also taken a domestic flight after returning from a foreign trip. After which the aircraft reached IGI Terminal-2 at around 10 am today. While cleaning the toilet, something stuck in the closed packet was seen. After which the staff informed the custom department.

The customs officials found a gray pouch attached with tape under the sink in the washroom. The gray pouch contained four rectangular gold bars. Whose total weight was about 3969 grams.

The official statement issued said that the total value of 4 rectangular bars of gold is 1 crore 95 lakhs. The recovered gold along with its packing material has been seized under section 110 of the Customs Act, 1962. The custom team is probing further.
