Delhi Metro Services Disrupted at ITO Amid AAP’s Nationwide Protest Against Arvind Kejriwal’s Arrest

The Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) call for nationwide protests following the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has led to disruptions in Delhi Metro services, particularly at the ITO station.

Delhi Metro Services to be Affected in ITO amid AAP’s Protest

Due to anticipated traffic jams and protests at the AAP headquarters located in ITO, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced the closure of the ITO Metro station from 8 am to 6 pm on Friday (March 22).

In accordance with the advice from Delhi Police, DMRC issued a statement confirming the temporary closure of the ITO Metro station on March 22, 2024.

The AAP’s protests stem from Kejriwal’s arrest in connection with the alleged excise policy scam. Kejriwal, who faces accusations of money laundering, becomes the first sitting Chief Minister to be arrested in such circumstances. Previously, his former deputy Manish Sisodia and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh were also detained in the same case.

The AAP’s protest extends beyond Delhi, with nationwide demonstrations planned outside BJP offices across the country. Opposition parties have been invited to join the protests, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing political turmoil.
