Delhi reports 1,757 new Covid-19 cases, positivity rate 28.63%; Maha logs 1,100 new cases

New Delhi: 1,767 new cases of Covid-19 were reported in Delhi on Wednesday, while six patients died due to corona virus infection. New Delhi: 1,767 new cases of Covid-19 were reported in Delhi on Wednesday, while six patients died due to corona virus infection. This information was obtained from the data released by the Health Department. According to the data of the department, the infection rate in the city was 28.63 percent.

After six more people died of covid in the national capital, the number of people who have died due to the epidemic here has increased to 26,578. 1,537 new cases of Covid were reported in Delhi on Tuesday, while the infection rate was recorded at 26.54 percent.

Maharashtra has reported 1,100 new coronavirus infections and four fatalities, the health department said in a bulletin. The state has 6,102 active cases now. The state’s COVID-19 case tally rose to 81,58,393, and the death toll to 1,48,489. The state recorded 949 cases and six deaths on Tuesday.

The Delhi Prisons Department has directed inmates in jails not to congregate at one place and to wash hands regularly in view of rising cases of Covid in the national capital. A senior official said that currently there are five patients under treatment for Covid in Tihar Jail. He said that when symptoms of corona virus like fever or cold are found in a person, they are immediately tested for antigen.

He said, “We have issued general instructions to the prisoners. They have been instructed not to congregate in one place and to wash their hands regularly. Prisoners who show symptoms of fever and cold are checked inside the jail. If they are found to be suffering from Covid then they are taken to Central Hospital in Jail No-3, where we admit them for 10 to 12 days.’

The official said, “We trace the people who came in contact with the infected inmates. Security personnel and inmates living with them in the cell, who may come in contact with them, are also screened.”
