In a significant development, a man identified as Balkar Singh from Ferozepur was apprehended with 220 grams of the notorious ‘ice drug’ on Wednesday. Assistant Inspector General (Counter Intelligence, Ferozepur) Lakhbir Singh disclosed that the arrest took place near Satiyewala Chowk, and the accused is now facing charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Remarkably, the illicit substance was smuggled into India from Pakistan through the use of a drone.

Meanwhile, in Chandigarh, Punjab’s Minister for Employment Generation, Skill Development, and Training, Aman Arora, directed officials to ensure the optimal utilization of Multi Skill Development Centres (MSDCs). During a high-level meeting at Punjab Bhawan, Arora stressed the importance of aligning courses offered at the five MSDCs in Bathinda, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, and Hoshiarpur with the industry’s requirements. The goal is to enhance the effectiveness of these centers and provide training that meets industry demands.
In another initiative, Punjab’s Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development, and Fisheries Minister, Gurmeet Singh Khudian, announced a preventive vaccination drive against lumpy skin disease (LSD) for approximately 25 lakh bovines. Starting from February 25, the vaccination effort aims to curb the spread of the disease. Additionally, the minister mentioned the repetition of the Goat Pox vaccine as a booster dose, reinforcing the preventive measures against the disease.
