In Ranchi, the ED conducted multiple raids, resulting in the recovery of approximately Rs 20 crore from the personal secretary of Jharkhand Rural Development Minister Alamgir Alam, identified as Sanjiv Lal.

The recovered cash was linked to the household help of Sanjiv Lal, who serves as the personal secretary to Alamgir Alam, in connection with the Veerendra Ram case.

Veerendra K Ram, a former chief engineer accused of accumulating properties worth Rs 100 crore, was at the center of the investigation. In February 2023, the ED had arrested Virendra K Ram, then the chief engineer at the Jharkhand Rural Development Department, in connection with a money laundering case related to suspected irregularities in the implementation of certain schemes.

During the raid, authorities also seized a pen drive containing alleged transaction records involving several Jharkhand politicians, further intensifying the scrutiny surrounding the case.
