The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has questioned suspended TMC leader Sheikh Shahjahan regarding allegations of land grabbing in the Sandeshkhali area of West Bengal.
ED Questions Sheikh Shahjahan in Land Grab Case. After finding out about illegal money moves in the shrimp business, the ED filed two reports against Shahjahan. One report is about cheating in the Public Distribution System (PDS), and the other is about bad deals in bringing things in and out of the country.
Sources said Shahjahan was asked about the land issue by the ED. Earlier, he was sent to jail because of the fight with ED officers in Sandeshkhali.
But the Calcutta High Court later gave the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The court said the CBI should take Shahjahan, the main person in the case, and look into the fight with ED officers. The court also got mad at the CID for not helping.
Shahjahan was arrested by the West Bengal Police on February 29. Women in Sandeshkhali said Shahjahan and his friends took their land and forced them to do bad things.
The CBI also arrested three people, including Shahjahan’s brother, in the fight with ED officers. This happened when ED officers went to Shahjahan’s house on January 5. Other people arrested are Mafaujar Molla and Sirajul Molla.
