The Holi special train was en route from Danapur to Mumbai when the fire broke out in one of its AC coaches. While the cause of the fire remains unknown, Danapur DRM Jayant Chaudhary stated that the affected coach had no reservations. Consequently, 4-5 trains might have been diverted due to the incident.
This incident echoes a similar occurrence on March 22, when a fire erupted in a seating-cum-luggage coach of the Mumbai-Gorakhpur Godan Express near Nashik Road station in Maharashtra. Fortunately, there were no casualties reported, although some passengers had to evacuate the train.
In another incident from February, a significant fire engulfed a train engine near Gobindapur at Joranda Road railway station in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district, leading to the suspension of railway services in the area. Similarly, in Maharashtra last year, a fire broke out on the Purna-Parli passenger train near Nanded on December 26.
