Indore: In a heart wrenching incident reported from Indore’s Lasudsia area a man beat up his wife and branded her with hot tongs, for talking to her sister over phone. The woman was identified as Arti Agarwal, who lived with her husband and son in a rented accommodation.
According to Lasudia Police, on the complaint of Aarti Aggarwal, resident of Kailod Kankar, the police have registered a case of physical torture against her husband Rahul. Aarti was burnt by her husband with tongs three days ago, but she did not have the courage to go to the police station and file a report. Her parents gave her courage, after which she went to the police station.
In her complaint the woman told police that her husband Rahul sent their son on some errands on April 20. He then locked the door and started thrashing her. Not only did he beat her up badly, but also took a pair of tongs and after heating them brandished her with it. The husband wanted to burn the woman’s face, and when she resisted the attempt, he burnt her torso, cheek, neck and back.
Hearing the commotion and the woman’s cries, the landlord who stays on the floor above the couple rushed downstairs and banged at the door. Rahul did open the door, but threatened his wife with dire consequences if she said anything to anyone. He then took a cloth and asked his wife to cover her face with it and dropped her off at her aunt’s place.
The woman did not share the incident with anyone for several days. Neither did she approach the police. Her aunt however called up her parents, who then came and took her to the police station. The case against the man was registered on Thursday night.
Her family said that Arti had married 12 years ago and they have 2 children, one son and a daughter. While the 8-year-old son lives with the couple, their 10-year-old daughter lives with her grandparents. Rahul apparently did not like his wife talking to her sister. Thiswas so because he thought that her sister only talked ill about him. He had warned Arti several times against talking to her sister. But on Thursday when he found both women on a call again, he lost his temper and beat up his wife and burnt her with hot tongs.
