Shimla: On Saturday, an official said that a five-storey building located on National Highway 205 in Ghandal village near Shimla collapsed, damaging the road leading to a government college and hitting traffic movement.
According to the information, The incident happened around 12 pm. They added that However, no loss of life was reported in the incident as all the residents were evacuated in advance and the electric connections of the building were disconnected.
A video showed how the building came crumbling down. The officials said that the house, owned by one Raj Kumar, was sinking and the base columns of the building had developed cracks.
Cracks had developed on the road next to the building after excavation work was done in Dhami 16 Mile. The road leading to the Government Degree College at Dhami here got partially damaged due to the building collapse, leading to disruption in traffic movement, the officials said.
The building was located near the Degree College in Dhami, which had also developed cracks. Sub Divisional Magistrate (Rural) Nishant said the building collapsed due to an excavation work in the hilly area above this house.
He added that one Dinesh Kumar is constructing his house in the area above the collapsed building. Besides, the electric connections of the building were disconnected, according to the report.
